With all animation courses you get full mentoring and support. This means regular feedback from your instructor who is a professional animator and animation teacher.
2D (18 classes)
Animation Course
Our 2D animation course starts with an introduction to Flash and the tools most commonly used for animation. You’ll learn how to use symbols before we get into some basic animation principles. Timing and workflow techniques are explained. The Body Mechanics section prepares you to create convincing physical performances before we get into facial animation, lip-sync, character acting, and finally advanced dialogue where you start to create your demo reel material. At the end of the entire course you will have a demo reel that you can use to find a job. You will receive mentoring until your demo reel is at a quality that will show well with studio professionals looking to hire!
3D (18 classes)

The 3D animation course also starts with an introduction to the software, Maya. We’ll show you the most commonly used areas of the software for animation. Basic animation principles, timing and workflow techniques are covered before we get into the Body Mechanics section. In Body Mechanics you’ll learn how to convey convincing physical performances before we get into facial animation, lip-sync, character acting, and finally advanced dialogue where you start to create your demo reel material. 2D/3D Cross-training (36 classes)
2D/3D Cross Training
Both 2D and 3D animation courses work in tandem. They both have four sections (Basics, Body Mechanics, Acting, Advanced Dialogue). Each 2D class and 3D class teach the same principles but in the software that your are using (Flash or Maya).
For example, Flash Basics #5 teaches Secondary Action (in 2D). Maya Basics #5 also teaches Secondary Action (in 3D).
Knowing both 2D and 3D animation will give you a strategic edge on the competition. Check out the CROSS-TRAINING page to see how it works.
